About Us
Why GMPC Medical?
We provide free consultations
Every woman facing unplanned pregnancy needs adequate information to answer these questions before a final pregnancy decision can be made:
-
Am I really pregnant? As many as 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, most in the first trimester, before 12 weeks.
-
How far along am I? Gestational age is important information you will need if you are considering abortion, in order to know the type of abortion available to you and the cost involved.
-
Do I have a sexually transmitted disease (STI)? STI's pose a serious risk to a woman’s future reproductive and overall health, especially if left untreated. Any abortion procedure (including a medical abortion) increases the risk of bacteria from outside a woman’s body or from the vagina being carried into her cervix. STD testing and treatment is particularly important before an abortion.
GMPC Medical will confirm your pregnancy, determine how far along you are, and do STI testing, all at your initial appointment.

Confused and overwhelmed?
Your next steps do not have to be taken alone. Many of us at GMPC Medical have been there too, we understand, and we're here to support you!

Services
Pregnancy Testing
GMPC Medical provides lab-quality pregnancy testing free of charge, and the results will be available at the time of testing.
Pregnancy symptoms, such as a missed period, doesn’t always mean you are pregnant. You should have a lab-quality pregnancy test performed by a medical professional, even if you have already done an at-home test. GMPC Medical uses lab- quality urine-based pregnancy tests.
Ultrasound
Following a positive pregnancy test, it is important to have an ultrasound for pregnancy confirmation. At GMPC Medical, we offer limited obstetrical ultrasounds performed by specially trained nurses.
Ultrasounds are performed to:
-
Confirm pregnancy
-
Detect fetal heartbeat
-
Determine fetal age and due date
-
Determine location of pregnancy (inside the uterus or ectopic)
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Testing
When considering your pregnancy options, it is important to know if you have a sexually transmitted infection. Treatment for an STI (formerly known as STD) should always begin as soon as possible, but if you are considering having an abortion, you MUST receive treatment prior to having the abortion.
Women who have an untreated STI are up to 25% more likely to develop Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) following an abortion procedure.
GMPC offers free Chlamydia & Gonorrhea testing for women & men. If your STI test is positive, you will be referred for treatment from your doctor or through your local health department.
